Cell Powered Biologic Fabric

May-22-17 The E. coli-powered Biologic fabric from MIT will automatically ventilate to keep the wearer comfortable.

The biofabric features flaps made up of a sheet of latex printed with lines of living E.coli, which will expand or shrink in response to humidity changes. When the cells sense heat and sweat, they will function as actuators to open or close the flaps on the clothing, keeping the wearer cool and comfortable.
