Cerebrotech Visor Identifies Strokes

Cerebrotech Visor Identifies Strokes
Mar-27-18
The Cerebrotech Visor detects strokes quickly to help ensure prompt treatment.

In development for several years, the Cerebrotech Visor from Cerebrotech Medical Systems fits over the patient’s head, where it sends low-energy radio waves through the brain. This technology, known as volumetric impedance phase shift spectroscopy (VIPS), relies on detecting the waves as they are reflected back to the device, and monitoring how they changed as they passed through the brain’s fluids. A severe stroke will alter the fluids in the brain, producing an asymmetry in the radio waves that will indicate the magnitude of the stroke.

According to the team, the Cerebrotech Visor can identify a stroke with a 92 percent accuracy.
