Cerence EVD Warns Drivers of Sirens

Cerence EVD Warns Drivers of Sirens
Jan-12-20
The Cerence EVD system increases road safety by alerting drivers to emergency sirens before the driver can hear them.

The EVD (Emergency Vehicle Detection) software can be integrated into the vehicle’s driver-assist system, where it works with the microphones found in the cabins of most new cars. When the system detects the sound of sirens, it will automatically mute any music or calls in the cabin and trigger an audio-visual warning. Currently, the EVD system can identify the type of emergency vehicle approaching, with information about distance and direction in the works.
