Chevy Introduces Active Phone Cooling to Keep Phones Charging

Jul-07-15 Designed to keep smartphones as comfortable as their owners, the Active Phone Cooling system from Chevrolet will use the car’s air conditioning system to help keep phones cool and charging.

In hot weather, most of today’s smartphones will shut off or pause charging in order to cool down. And inside a car, even with the air conditioning on, the heat of the sun can cause a phone to overheat—stalling charging or even damaging the device.

To help keep our gadgets cool—and operative—Chevy will be releasing 2016 models featuring Active Phone Cooling, which will work in conjunction with the company’s already existing wireless charging dock located in the center console. By cooling the phone as it charges, the system will help ensure the wireless charging dock stays operative even in very hot temperatures.
