Clean the Air With Your Clothes

Clean the Air With Your Clothes
Oct-03-12
A new laundry additive is able to clean the air as well as the user's clothes.

The additive, called CatClo (for Catalytic Clothing) is able to remove nitrogen oxides from the air while the clothes are being worn through the use of titanium dioxide nanoparticles. When the nanoparticles in the fabric contact the nitrogen oxides in the air, they oxidise them into the fabric, where they can be washed out later. The treated nitrogen oxides are harmless and undetectable to the user.

In studies, one person wearing clothes treated with CatClo could remove roughly the same amount of nitrogen oxides in a day that are produced by a family car.
