ContiSense Tires Improve Driver Safety

Sep-15-17 The ContiSense enabled tires from Continental will monitor tire health for better safety and performance.

The ContiSense system relies on conductive rubber inlays embedded in the tires, which are able to continuously monitor temperature and tread depth. If the treads become worn below a certain level, the system will alert the driver automatically. The ContiSense system will also send an alert the instant a puncture occurs, allowing the driver to pull over immediately before tire pressure begins to fall.

According to the team, later iterations of the system will include additional sensors able to detect road conditions and transmit the information to the driver, so they can take appropriate actions.
