Controlling Drones with Hand Gestures

Controlling Drones with Hand Gestures
Jul-12-17
A gesture-recognizing watch strap offers a more natural method of drone control.

The strap, developed by a team at Empa led by Frank Clemens, is embedded with 3D-printed piezoreistive fibers. Movements of the wrist and hand will change the electrical resistance of the fibers, which in turn are translated into wireless drone command signals.

The team believes the system could even be made small enough to fit in a small adhesive patch, eliminating the need for a watchband.
