Swiss researchers have created an air-conditioned bullet-resistant vest, designed to help keep the user both cool and protected.
The Kevlar vest, from Empa, includes an array of integrated water channels and a fan that promotes cooling based on Coolpad technology. The water in the Coolpads evaporate through the porous membrane while the fan pushes air through a spacer behind the pad and provides additional cooling.
The cooling fabric technology could also be used on protective outfits worn over normal clothing.
