Cycloramic App Creates Hands-Free 360 Degree Videos

Jan-01-13 With the simple Cycloramic app, iPhone 5 users can capture 360-degree videos automatically just by placing the phone on a smooth shiny surface and pressing “Go.”

The app works by taking advantage of the iPhone 5’s built-in vibration ability and accelerometers. When the phone is balanced upright on its end and the app activated, it will begin to vibrate at precisely the right frequencies to cause the phone to spin on the table. The phone’s sensors can determine how far the phone has rotated, automatically stopping the recording when it has gone full circle.
