Defibrillator Drones Get There Faster

Defibrillator Drones Get There Faster
Jun-14-17
Sweden is testing its new range of flying defibrillator drones, which can respond to the scene much quicker than an ambulance.

When a person goes into cardiac arrest, every second counts. To help make the most of those seconds, researchers from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden have launched a pilot program to deploy first responder drones to people in areas lacking nearby emergency medical support (the average response time in those areas was 30 minutes, with a survival rate of zero). The drones are equipped with both a defibrillator and a speaker that will relay instructions on use to humans at the scene.

In tests, the defibrillator drones arrived on the scene within five minutes of launching, compared to the average 22 minutes for an ambulance.

There are already first aid drones. But could this drone-equipment-instructions idea as Defibrillator Drone (Jun-14-17) and Intelligent First Aid Kit (Aug-30-17) be widened? Depending on PSAP’s orders a rescue drone loads an extinguisher, instruments, drugs or other material. Private services may follow.
