DropTag Rides with Parcels, Monitoring Bumps and Drops

DropTag Rides with Parcels, Monitoring Bumps and Drops
Feb-10-13
The DropTag lets you use check to see if your delivered package has been dropped, and potentially damaged, before you accept delivery.

In development by the UK-based Cambridge Consultants, the DropTag is meant to be applied to parcels at the source. Its accelerometer sensor records the bumps and drops of transit, transmitting the data via Bluetooth to a smartphone app. Recipients can then check the status of the package with their phones before signing for delivery.

The team is currently working on a logging function that would record when the package was dropped, as well as additional sensors such as temperature monitoring.
