Eagle 360 Urban Tire Adjusts to Road Conditions Automatically

Mar-08-17 Goodyear’s spherical Eagle 360 Urban smart tire can adjust to the road conditions with its bionic skin.

An evolution of the company’s Eagle 360, the 360 Urban boasts the same spherical shape and magnetic levitation suspension system that would allow the vehicle to move in any direction. However, the new tire also includes a rubber “bionic skin” embedded with an array of sensors able to detect the road conditions and alter its tread in real time via a system of actuator-controlled dimples. The 360 Urban could also communicate with other vehicles using the tires—warning them of upcoming changing conditions—as well as detect punctures and seal them automatically.
