The Eggxactly cooks a boiled egg to your specifications without the need for water, using about 1% of the energy required by conventional means.
The Eggxactly consists of two elastic silicon heating elements that conform to the size and shape of the eggs to transfer heat efficiently. The top of the small cooker features a dial to indicate how hard the egg should be cooked, and, according to the manufacturers, the Eggxactly can determine if the egg came straight from the fridge and therefore requires more cooking time.
The Eggxactly was first launched in 2006, but it was difficult to come up with a cost-effective method for producing the silicone heating elements. The problem has since been sorted out, and the product will be tested at a few homes in the UK in a small production run.
