Electronic Bandage Powered by Motion

Electronic Bandage Powered by Motion
Dec-01-18
An innovative wound dressing powered by the body’s motion help wounds heal with electricity.

While the advantages of electrotherapy for healing chronic wounds are established, the units themselves tend to be a bit unwieldy. To slim down the bandages, researchers from the University of Madison-Wisconsin created a waist-worn band equipped with nanogenerators that harvest energy from the motions of the patients’ breathing. The bandage is hardwired to the band, where it receives the electrical pulses from the band and delivers them to the wound site.
