ElliQ Engages Seniors with AI

ElliQ Engages Seniors with AI
Jan-13-19
The robotic ElliQ from Intuition Robotics aims to engage seniors with personalized and proactive activity suggestions.

Developed specifically for the aging population—who can suffer mentally from social isolation—the ElliQ relies on AI to learn the patterns of its owner and suggest helpful activities. The ElliQ’s system is equipped with a microphone and speaker, tablet with a dual camera, and the main unit—a robotic ‘head’ that can follow the user as they move about the room.

Though the system is similar to other home AI devices, the addition of the moving component and the ElliQ’s habit of offering suggestions before being asked allows the device to determine if the user seems to be sitting alone and offer proactive, engaging activity suggestions.

Busy people may want to limit activities in social media. An assistant application might thumb and reply friends’ updates; also enlighten with an abstract when some friend is met.
