A new energized fabric could help keep soldiers warm in extreme conditions.
The fabric was designed with paratroopers in mind, who lose feeling in their extremities when parachuting into arctic conditions. Inspired by research conducted at Stanford University, the fabric is made up of a network of fine, silver nanowires applied to cotton. When a small voltage is applied to the wires, the temperature of the fabric can be raised by 100° F in just sixty seconds.
