Equivert Headphones Treat Vertigo

Mar-12-18 Specialized headphones equipped with the EQUIVert feedback system could help treat vertigo through guided exercises.

Developed by a team at the Fraunhofer Institute, the headphones treat vertigo by offering doctors an objective diagnosis while also helping patients train their sense of balance. The headphones feature an onboard accelerometer and rotational sensors, which can detect if the wearer is leaning and alert them with acoustic signals so they can correct their posture.

The EQUIVert headphones also assist in diagnosis by collecting measurements about the patient’s fluctuations, which are then provided to the doctor in the form of a visual computer display.
