External Patch Ensures Compliance by Tracking Pills

External Patch Ensures Compliance by Tracking Pills
Jul-07-15
A digital device from Proteus Digital Health able to track medication adherence is the first of its kind to receive approval from the FDA.

The compliance-sensing system works via a combination of drug tablets outfitted with ingestible sensors and an external patch equipped with a Bluetooth antenna that is able to detect if the pills have been swallowed. As the patch monitors the user’s medication habits, it will send an update to a paired smartphone app, allowing doctors or caregivers to keep track of each pill as it is ingested.
