The smartphone-connected Eyer from Phelcom Technologies can be used in rural clinics to gather a retinal scan for remote diagnosis.
The Eyer is delivered with a high-quality, compatible smartphone, and works with the phone’s camera to capture images of the patient’s retina. The system does not require the use of drops to dilate the eye, relying instead on artificial illumination, and the entire procedure takes under a minute. The collected images are then transmitted to the Eyer Cloud server for study by an remote ophthalmologist. The analyzed images will also be added to a database being use to train AI to recognize different eye diseases.
