Finexus Device Provide Precise Motion Sensing

Finexus Device Provide Precise Motion Sensing
Dec-28-15
The Finexus device could add some extra dexterity to virtual reality by allowing the system to track individual finger movements with extreme accuracy.

Developed by Keyu Chen, the Finexus consists of a system of electromagnets that attach to the user’s fingertips, each operating at a different frequency, and an array of magnetic sensors that tracks the motions of the magnets and translates the data into a projection in the virtual environment. The system does not rely on infrared cameras, which eliminates the need for line-of-sight, and is accurate up to 1.3 millimeters—detailed enough to allow the user to play the piano or write words in the air.
