The innovative new Finger-Aware keyboard system allows users to assign shortcuts based on which finger is used to press the key.
Created by a team from the University of Waterloo, the Finger-Aware system uses computer vision algorithms to determine which finger has pressed a specific key, as well as identify hand posture. With this ability, the system is able to trigger several different functions from the same key, including a scrolling feature. The team believes the Finger-Aware system could be particularly useful to people who tend to use complicated programs at work, such as stock traders, editors and architects.
