Flex-Pave Reduces Erosion with Natural Run-Off

Flex-Pave Reduces Erosion with Natural Run-Off
Oct-14-16
The semi-porous Flexi-Pave paving material absorbs water to reduce runoff, and could help preserve Yellowstone’s geysers.

Developed by KBI in partnership with Michelin, the Flexi-Pave material is made up of non-toxic materials, including stone and used tires. The mixture is held together with a polymer binder created by KBI, and will absorb rainwater at a rate of 3000 gallons per hour and then disperse it back to the earth in a natural pattern. This reduces erosion as well as water contamination.

The Flexi-Pave material is currently being installed a Yellowstone National Park, where the asphalt sidewalks have begun deteriorating.
