Flexpad Transforms Paper to Foldable Displays

Flexpad Transforms Paper to Foldable Displays
Oct-14-13
The Flexpad allows a standard sheet of paper to function as a flexible, handheld display, creating a new range of intuitive, interaction possibilities.

The FlexPad system uses a Kinect camera and a projector to transform a sheet of paper or foam into a spatial aware, handheld display. The projector and camera are mounted on the ceiling, above the user, where the camera’s motion sensor tracks the position of the user’s hands and the paper. As the motion sensor captures the movement and deformation of the paper, two specifically created algorithms subtract interfering elements and create a computer model of the movements. That data is then sent to the projector, which reproduces the image on the sheet in near real time.
