Fog Harp Captures More Water from Fog

Fog Harp Captures More Water from Fog
Mar-29-18
The innovative fog harp can collect three times the water from the air as conventional fog nets.

The fog harp improves on the design of the fog nets, which have been being used for some time to collect airborne water droplets from fog.

Developed by a team from Virginia Tech, the fog harp eliminates the horizontal wires from the typical fog net design, relying instead on vertical stainless steel wires placed closely together. The gaps between the wires are small enough to capture the water droplets, while the removal of the horizontal wires allows the harvested water to flow much more quickly down the wires and reduce the chances of clogging.
