Foldable Canoe

Foldable Canoe
Aug-08-11
Another option for spur of the moment boaters has surfaced with the Adhoc canoe, which can be folded to fit in a backpack and weighs only 9 pounds.

Created by Israeli designer Ori Levin, the single passenger Adhoc is made of a carbon fiber frame and a hull made of the same material as that used in racing sails. Locking mechanisms secure the telescoping framework poles at bow and stern and a center folding mechanism holds the boat firm in the middle.

There is no word yet on the Adhoc being commercially produced, although it could be useful for forestry workers and hikers.
