Edible RFID tags combined with a special plate could allow consumers to track the foods they eat and stay aware of nutritional and allergy information.
The RFID tags are part of the NutriSmart concept, a method to that will enable purchasers to trace the supply chain behind the items they buy. Used in tangent with the smart plate concept, the RFID tags become part of an "invisible diet management system", communicating information on how many miles the item traveled, as well as nutritional content and history.
