Freewheel Wheelchair Fitness Tracker Also Maps Terrain

Freewheel Wheelchair Fitness Tracker Also Maps Terrain
Aug-18-15
The Freewheel Wheelchair Fitness Tracker puts a new spin on fitness trackers by allowing wheelchair users to track their miles while also mapping the terrain.

Created by Chaotic Moon, the Freewheel’s sensor array measures variables like distance, speed and acceleration, as well as level of incline and decline. The information is transmitted via Bluetooth to a smartphone app, where it can be correlated with data from other fitness trackers (such as those that track heart rate) to determine the user’s activity level.

In addition to providing health information, the Freewheel developers say the data could be used to create detailed terrain maps of cities, allowing people (including cyclists and hikers) to choose less strenuous routes.
