Göbie Social Wellness Wearable

Apr-29-17 The Göbie social wellness wristband hopes to encourage social interactions by creating spontaneous, playful opportunities between users.

The Göbie was developed by a team at Parson’s School of Design as a way to promote real-time, face-to-face interaction. The wristband pairs with a smartphone, and uses haptic feedback to notify the wearer when another Göbie user is nearby. The system then offers a “pop-up play” opportunity that encourages the wearers to engage in a few moments of low-pressure, playful interaction.
