GE Smart Switches Bring Light to Older Homes

GE Smart Switches Bring Light to Older Homes
Jan-02-20
The new smart switches and dimmers from GE can be installed in older homes with no need for a neutral wire.

Most smart switches today require a neutral wire for connection, which is lacking in most homes built before 1980. To help bring these classic homes into the automated world, the switches from GE do not need a neutral wire and can communicate directly with Alexa or Google Assistant (previous products require a hub for connection to voice assistants). The GE switches were also designed to be easy to install, automatically determining the load wire and line wire and fitting better into the junction boxes.
