The geko muscle pump activator from Sky Medical Technology increases blood circulation to help prevent VTE.
Bedridden patients are often in danger of Venous thromboembolism (VTE), which is usually treated by inflatable wraps on the legs to help raise pressure. The geko device offers a simple and non-invasive prevention for VTE in the form of a small device similar in size to a wristwatch that is worn at the knee. Once in place, the geko will stimulate the common peroneal nerve of the calf and muscle foot pumps to increase blood flow in the calf’s deep veins. The device applies no external pressure to the leg—unlike the traditional wraps—and allows the patient full mobility.
