Gema Kit Stickers Track Medication Doses

Gema Kit Stickers Track Medication Doses
Dec-15-13
The Gema Kit makes pillboxes a thing of the past, replacing the plastic boxes with a system of near field technology (NFT) stickers that help to ensure proper compliance and keep doctors informed of their patients' health.

The kit, created by Joanna Rogerson and Jon Guida, includes paper-thin, NFC “patches” that adhere to the outside of pill bottles and packs. When the user’s cell phone is brought near the sticker, a reporting portal will open, recording when the medicine was taken as well as giving the user an opportunity to report side effects, symptoms or mood. Originally designed for cancer patients based on the prediction of the increase in oral chemo medications, the system helps to increase the monitoring capabilities of doctors and allows the patient to let the physician know when they are feeling worse.

The stickers can adhere to almost any flexible substance, including paper, plastics and cardboard, and do not come in direct contact with the medication.
