A flexible nanomesh able to study the cells of a beating heart could offer important insights into the function of living cells.
Developed in collaboration between the University of Tokyo, Tokyo Women’s Medical University and RIKEN, the biocompatible nanomesh consists of 100-nanometer diameter wires made from nano-scale gold pieces. The mesh will not interact chemically with the living cells, and could also be used to study other cells and organs as well as have applications in the production of embedded medical devices.
