Google's New Image-Gathering Walking Stick

Google's New Image-Gathering Walking Stick
Jun-22-13
A newly patented walking stick-type device from Google could help take the load off TrailView image gatherers.

The 'elongated member' (walking stick) is embedded with cameras, location sensors and a switch at the bottom that will trigger the imaging sensors to fire each time the stick hits the ground. A battery and processing system are carried in the center of the pole. The device could also be used in other ‘elongated’ objects, such as canes, crutches or monopods.

There is no word yet as to when Google plans to send the new device out onto the trails.
