Guidable Sonopill Captures Ultrasound from Inside

Jun-23-19 The Sonopill can be guided through the color to collect micro-ultrasound images that could lead to early disease detection.

Developed by a team from the US and UK, the magnetic Sonopill ultrasound imaging device is ingested by the patient, and then guided through the intestinal tract via “intelligent magnetic manipulation” using an external robotic arm. An AI system helps ensure the capsule can be positioned correctly for the best images, and can even navigate the capsule back into place it if becomes dislodged.
