Harrington Seed Destructor Prevents Superweeds

Harrington Seed Destructor Prevents Superweeds
Aug-23-14
A new device that destroys herbicide-resistant seeds could help to stop the invasion of superweeds while also reducing the use of pesticides and other chemicals.

The combine was developed by Raymond Harrington, an Australian farmer, who first started working on the design about ten years ago. Inspired by the way cage mills crush coal, Harrison created a 'weed-seed-chomper' that attaches to the back of a combine. As combines sort grain from chaff, they typically eject the waste matter, including weed seeds, back onto the field. In contrast, Harrison's device directs the waste product—including weed seeds—into a trailer equipped with two spinning cage mills that crush the seeds so they cannot grow.

The Harrington Seed Destructor is currently touring North America in hopes that the technology could be brought to new markets.

Harrigton Seed Destructor is Grand Idea. It would have lots of scope with the seed companies. Also let the equipment be made suitable for smaller combines too. We shall be interested in it.

Good day,
This is a fantastic idea and I will definitely be interested in introducing, distributing and selling it to the South African farmer market.
Please let me know if this will be possible.
