Microsoft’s new Glabella head-worn blood pressure monitor promises an unobtrusive way to monitor pressure continuously.
The Glabella system is contained within a fairly standard-looking pair of glasses equipped with optical sensors in the frame. By taking pulse wave readings from three different locations on the face, the device is able to calculate the pulse transit time to determine the wearer’s blood pressure—including the more valuable systolic blood pressure. According to the team, the Glabella device could be worn daily to continuously track blood pressure with no effort or input from the wearer.
