HeartBuds Stethoscope Shares More Data, in Real Time
Nov-14-15
The HeartBuds stethoscope system performs as well as a conventional stethoscope while also offering a visual, real time image of the patient’s heartbeat.

Developed by Orlando Health chief of cardiology Dr. David Bello, the HeartBuds system consists of a small, disc-shaped “listening device” that is wired to a smartphone. When the disc is pressed to the patient’s skin—much like a traditional stethoscope—the sound data is transmitted to the smartphone, where it is amplified by the device’s speakers. This allows the patient to hear the heartbeat along with the physician, and discuss the information in realtime.
