High-altitude Precision Firefighting

High-altitude Precision Firefighting
Elbit Systems has created an innovative new high-altitude, high-precision aerial firefighting system called HyDrop that enables aircraft to drop fire suppressant liquid pellets from a much safer, higher altitude.

A recent demonstration showed how two firefighting aircraft put out a burning field from an altitude of 500 feet which is four times the altitude at which current firefighting aircraft can function.

The two aircraft each deployed 1.6 tons of biodegradable liquid pellets, guided by a computed ballistic trajectory to precisely hit their target, achieving 95 percent of its payload on target.
