Hudway App Turns Smartphones to Heads-Up-Displays

Nov-05-13 With the Hudway app, all you need is a smartphone to project a heads-up display on your vehicle’s windshield.

The app, which is currently available for iOS devices, requires the user to enter their location and destination, creating the map between the two (the only time an internet connection is required). The smartphone is then placed on the dashboard, where it will project the turn-by-turn directions as well as an outline of the road ahead. In addition to allowing drivers to keep their eyes on the road, the app will display the vehicle speed and distance to the next dangerous curve—reminding the driver to slow down.

The app does not require a projector to display the information, and so will display best in low visibility conditions (which is what it was designed for).
