Hybrid Chip Evaluates Immune System

Hybrid Chip Evaluates Immune System
Oct-18-19
A hybrid chip able to determine the health of the immune system could help in disease diagnosis and treatment.

The microfluidic chip created by the team from Nanyang University uses its tiny channels to separate the white blood cells in the sample based on size. The isolated cells are then individually measured using electrical impedance. Since unhealthy white blood cells are generally larger than healthy ones, significantly large numbers of cells outside the standard impedance range can indicate the state of the immune system.
