Hydrogel Harvests Water from the Air

Hydrogel Harvests Water from the Air
Mar-16-19
A solar-powered hydrogel able to harvest water from the air works in both humid and dry conditions.

Created by a team from the University of Austin, the hydrogel is completely passive, absorbing water from the air and storing it until it is released when exposed to natural sunlight for about five minutes. According to the team, the material can produce up to 50 liters per kilogram of hydrogel, and could replace key components in existing solar-powered water harvesters.
