A team from MIT has been awarded the winning design entry in Elon Musk’s Hyperloop pod design competition.
Falling on the heels of increased federal interest in the Hyperloop project, the winning pod design features a 550-pound pod that can withstand speeds up to 360 feet per second. The pod would include retracting skies that reduce drag, as well as a set of wheels that would enable the pod to keep moving in case of emergency. The MIT team will go on to build and test their pod on Musk’s own Hyperloop track later in the year.
