Implantable Cancer Traps Offer Early Diagnosis

Implantable Cancer Traps Offer Early Diagnosis
Oct-31-19
Implantable cancer traps that capture circulating tumor cells could make it easier to diagnose the disease in its early stages.

The microscopic biomaterial scaffold can be implanted under the skin in a simple procedure, where it encourages tissue growth and brings biomarkers closer to the surface. Doctors can then take a biopsy from the scaffold, which tends to attract immune cells and tumor cells, which is a less invasive procedure than many current alternatives.
