Implantable Sensor Monitors Blood Flow

Implantable Sensor Monitors Blood Flow
Jan-09-19
A new wireless blood flow sensor can be implanted in the body to allow doctors to monitor the success of blood vessel surgery.

Developed by the team from Stanford University, the battery-free, wireless, biodegradable sensor can be wrapped around the artery to monitor the flow of blood. If the sensor detects a blockage, an alert can be sent to a smartphone or wearable device and then to the internet, allowing physicians to monitor the patient’s progress without the need for office visits.
