Injestible Capsule Releases Drugs on Command

Injestible Capsule Releases Drugs on Command
Dec-14-18
An electronic capsule that can be controlled wirelessly to deliver medication could help reduce the need for surgeries.

The capsule was developed by a team from MIT as a way to provide drugs to patients who require long-term medication in strict doses. The capsule would dissolve when swallowed, allowing its ‘arms' to extend and lodge the device in the stomach. From there it could be controlled wirelessly via Bluetooth, or release medication automatically in response to an infection or allergic reaction.
