IoT Noise Canceling is Faster Than the Speed of Sound

An innovative noise-canceling technology relies on the IoT to react faster than sound can travel.According to Sheng Shen, of the University of Illinois, the technology relies on a few IoT devices, each equipped with a microphone and wireless transmitter. The mic-equipped objects detect the loud sounds sooner than the human ear, sending the noise-canceling signal wirelessly to the wearer’s ear-device and blocking the sound much more effectively than current options.
The team hopes to further develop the technology to make the devices more comfortable to wear and allow the system to work for more than one person at a time.

Where else could this be used even without headsets? In windows and on terraces against traffic noise and wind, in structures against earthquakes etc.?
