Current research indicates that humans now spend up to ten hours a day looking at screens.

According to the developers, the IRL Glasses were inspired by the movie 'They Live,' in which screens are manipulating the population with hidden messages. To help prevent subliminal mind control, the IRL Glasses will render LED and LCD screens black via horizontal polarization, while also functioning as standard sunglasses. Currently, the IRL Glasses can only block most TV sets and some computers, though the team is working on solutions to block the OLED technology of smartphones and digital billboards. Rowdy Roddy would be proud.
