Kengoro Robot Sweats to Last Longer

Kengoro Robot Sweats to Last Longer
Oct-20-16
The Kengoro robot perspires to keep cool so that it can perform longer.

Like humans, robots can be damaged by overheating. Inspired by the way the human body cools itself through sweat, the team from the University of Tokyo lab created the Kengoro, a robot outfitted with an artificial perspiration system that moves deionized water through its aluminum skeleton. The skeleton is porous, and has been created with a layer that allows the water to pass through an interior channel and evaporate, taking excess heat along with it.

Thanks to its efficient cooling system, the Kengoro was able to perform pushups for 11 consecutive minutes without damaging its motors.
