Kevlar Heating Pad

Kevlar Heating Pad
Nov-06-18
A new Kevlar heating pad offers better heat distribution and is more comfortable to wear than standard heating wraps.

Although quite cozy and therapeutic, conventional heating wraps can be uncomfortable to wear while moving about. To help take the benefits of heat on the move, the team from the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology modified Kevlar by growing copper-nickel nanowires between the Kevlar layers. The space surrounding the wires was then filled with a reduce graphene-oxide resin for even heat distribution, enabling the material to heat to 158°F with just 1.5 volts of electricity—and the material remains soft, insulating and washable.
