A new Kinect-based software program uses vocal feedback to help guide the visually impaired through yoga poses.
The program, Eyes-Free Yoga, relies on the Kinect software to track the body motions of the user and provide auditory feedback for six different yoga poses. By reading the angles of the user’s body, the software is able to determine if the yoga pose is being performed properly, and provide feedback such as, “Bring your arms closer to your head.”
According to co-developer Julie Kientz, “We hope this acts as a gateway to encouraging people with visual impairments to try exercise on a broader scale.”
